Common Humanitarian Fund - resources
The United Nations’ coordinated approach to the delivery
of humanitarian aid in Sudan has been manifested in the Work Plan
for Sudan that encompasses UN Agencies and many NGOs that have participated
in a process of nationwide coordination by fourteen sectors and eight
planning regions.
Given the existence of this comprehensive Work Plan, a number
of donors and UN Organizations have agreed to establish a common
fund mechanism - the Common Humanitarian Fund or CHF - for donor
contributions to the Work Plan.
The CHF will aim to give the Humanitarian Coordinator greater
ability to target funds at the most critical needs, encourage early
donor contributions and allow rapid response to unforeseen needs.
A number of online databases give dynamic access to details
on Work Plan projects, CHF allocations and Financial Tracking
data. The databases can be accessed here.
CHF EMERGENCY RESERVE
An emergency reserve is kept within the CHF to enable the Humanitarian Coordinator to respond to unforeseen needs arising outside the CHF Standard Allocation process. The emergency reserve will typically be of no more than 10% of committed funds to the CHF. Find below guidelines and templates for applying for grants from the CHF Emergency Reserve.
Standard Allocation Mechanism
A number of CHF process related documents are made available
here in order to keep partners updated on the process.
The CHF technical unit within OCHA Sudan (jensen7@un.org and kuhn@un.org)
should be informed by sector leaders of any CHF allocation meetings
at least one week in advance. Meetings will then be included in
the meeting schedule and made available on this website.
